Purobi M. Phillips, Ph.D.Purobi M. Phillips, Ph.D.
Purobi M. Phillips (M' IEEE since 1992) received her Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from Dartmouth College in 1987. She has been with CCR since September 2002 as the Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Phillips was a research scientist with SAIC stationed at the Naval Research Laboratory from 1987 to 1997. She gathered extensive experience in vacuum microelectronics, vacuum technology, semiconductor fabrications, and material science during this period. From 1997 to 1999 she worked for SRI International in Menlo Park, California, as a Senior Scientist. She marketed and managed several diverse projects during her time at SRI that included alternate energy source, projection television as well as cold cathodes for microwave applications. From 1999 to 2001 she was the Chief Operating Officer of Altair Technologies, a specialty fabrication and brazing company in the design of prototype development and contract manufacturing of complex assemblies for OEMs. Sales grew 50% during her tenure and two major, long term production orders were secured. Dr. Phillips joined a start up company in early 2001 as the VP of Technology Development. This company, Globeam Corporation, was engaged in broadband, free space, optical communications network. Due to the market down turn this venture failed and she joined Boeing EDD in Torrance, California where she managed the Manufacturing Technology Department. She has published 15 papers in refereed journals, gave invited talks and presented numerous papers in international scientific conferences.
